Union cabinet under the leadership of Pradhanmantri Modi approves the new scheme North East special Infrastructure Development scheme (NESIDS) for the North-east. North East special Infrastructure Development scheme (NESIDS) is launched to develop the seven Sisters states. Funds for the scheme is approved and monitored by only central government. The North East special Infrastructure Development scheme (NESIDS) is started from 2017-2018 year and has aim to fulfil all Infrastructure in special sectors till March 2020.
Details of North East special Infrastructure Development scheme (NESIDS)
Highlights of this scheme are as follows:-
- Infrastructure physically: – Under this the following sectors will be improved by the central government. Like water supply, Power, Connectivity to everyone, and mainly includes the projects for improving the tourism in North- East state.
- Infrastructure of social sectors: – In addition the central government will also increase the social sector of north -east. Like Education, Health, medical care, housing condition, poverty alleviation that play a vital contribution in human development.
Benefits from North East special Infrastructure Development scheme (NESIDS)
With the launch of this scheme the infrastructure of north east states will increases. Like water supply, health, medical care, education, housing condition and all. Central government motive is to develop industries in these states. Moreover with the industrial growth and other infrastructure development the lot of job opportunities will increases there. In other words, central government is going to develop these states in all sectors up to March 2020.
As previously from many years these states are neglected due to many reasons. However there are many good places to visit. For this reason government is going to develop tourist places there which can generate the many employments to local citizens.
History of this scheme
Non lapsable central pool of resources scheme was there before the launch of N.E.S.I.D.S. However, Union cabinet decided to continue the NLCPR scheme till March 2020 with funding ratio in 90:10. Furthermore to continue this scheme central government have to expend Rs.5300 crore. Its Main objective is to ensure the fast development of infrastructure in north east region by more flow of budgetary financing. Government do not want to stop any ongoing project under this scheme.
Ministry of development of north eastern region distribute the funds from non lapsable central pool of resources to various infrastructure projects. Ministry will allocates the fund to various projects under two schemes which are NLCPR (state) and NLCPR (central).
